Waterfront & outdoors · 20–45 min to enjoyPause at Viña del Mar PlazaFind the fountain, elephant statues and a place to pause in downtown Sausalito.Independent pick · local businesses can be featured
The fountain and elephant statues came from San Francisco’s 1915 Panama-Pacific exhibition. The plaza occupies a former pond between ferry landings and railway tracks, making this small downtown pause a useful place to picture Sausalito’s busy transport past.

Use the plaza to orient yourself before choosing a nearby café, then pair its exhibition-era landmarks with a wander through downtown.
Add time separately for a café or takeaway stop.

The little museum occupies an 1890s refrigerated railway cargo hold that later became an ice business. Its exhibits connect Sausalito’s Miwok roots, immigrant communities, wartime shipbuilders and creative residents, giving the waterfront town more depth than its postcard view.

- Curious first-time visitors

Start here before wandering downtown and ask about self-guided historic walks, so the buildings outside have a little more context.
The museum opens on selected days. Check before building a trip around it.
Visit times are our suggestions for enjoying each stop. Add walking time and your ferry’s boarding allowance; opening hours and availability need a separate check.
Bring a layer for the bay breeze.
